“For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love”. — Carl Sagan

Who was Carl Sagan?

Carl Edward Sagan

Carl Edward Sagan (1934–1996) was an American astronomer, planetary scientist, cosmologist, astrophysicist, astrobiologist, author, and science communicator. He’s the author of Cosmos, Pale Blue Dot, Dragons of Eden, and many more all-time best science books. Having more than 600 research papers and articles to his name, work of his on extraterrestrial life, writer of one of the best sciences tv shows “Cosmos”, a pioneer name in the world of cosmology, Carl Sagan, doesn’t need an introduction.

The man who changed the way we think:

Sagan changed the way we think and how we see the universe. He showed us that there is more in this world. How everything can be seen from another perspective. Carl showed us that we are not the center of everything. There’s more in the cosmos than us. Our self-importance is nothing In front of this vast enormous cosmos, he showed us that we are ephemeral — a flash of luminescence in these shores of the cosmic ocean. Sagan taught us to “think and grasp the universe with our imagination”. He taught us the power of imagination and skepticism.

Effect of Carl Sagan on his readers and followers:

No one is ever going to explain science and space in its — bewildering glory as Sagan did. It’s been more than two decades but his legacy is still alive. People still read him, cherish his work, miss him, mourn his death. Sagan does a magical effect on its readers. I found Sagan and never saw the universe again like the way I used to. When Voyager sent the Pale Blue Dot photo of our Earth, Sagan gave the historic speech that will always remain a historic and phenomenal speech in space history.

“That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every ‘superstar,’ every ‘supreme leader,’ every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there — on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.” — Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space

The legacy of Carl Sagan is still alive:

Sagan explained everything in a poetic more beautiful way. Fell in love with Carl & You’ll come to know Earth is small and fragile. Our existence is fragile. We are new to the cosmos, brief, & precious. That exploration is vital to our future. That our imagination can take us anywhere. The importance of teaching and inspiring our youth. To look to the stars but treasure the Earth. I can write hundreds of pages on Sagan. To my mentor, to my idol, Carl Sagan. We still love you, you are still alive in our hearts. Rest in peace legend.
